Tate & Davy pick up 1st wins of 2021 while McCollough and Morris continue winning ways

Somerton, Arizona

Saturday night at Cocopah Speedway saw a couple of firsts as both Zach Tate in the Alexander Ford IMCA Hobby Stock class & Jimmy Davy in the Yuma Insurance IMCA Sport Mod division pick up their first wins in the respective classes. Tate making the tow over from Coolidge, Arizona started 5th for the 20 lap main event and once out front kept a nice smooth pace fighting of challenges from the hard charging Phoenix, Arizona racer Steve Bitting Jr. and Yuma’s own Miles Morris to pick up his first main event at the Somerton oval. Tate in victory lane was quick to thank his crew who hard worked hard to get the 5az machine back in racing order after a  wreck during the Winter Nationals earlier in the year.  While Yuma racer Jimmy Davy picked up the lead after lap 1 and held a nice steady line holding of the charges of Holtville, California ace Chris Toth ,Yuma’s Ty Rogers and Miles Morris who was doing double duty. An elated Davy said in Ed Whitehead’s Tire Pros victory lane he and the crew finally got the monkey of their back after 3 years in the sport mod division after great success in the stock car and factory stock divisions. Now to our CT Floor Coverings Mini Dwarf division in the sportsman class it was Imperial California racer Cody McCollough picking up his 3rd main event victory on the season with Easton Figueroa and Bryson Byford rounding out the podium and the masters division welcomed back Hudson Morris and his familiar #3 machine back to victory lane as he charged his 6th starting position to pick up his 2nd feature win of his 2021 campaign following behind Morris were Yuma racers Maleigha Estrada and Brody Lopez
