After a great weekend of racing in the 1st 2 nights of The 5th Annual IMCA Winter Nationals presented by The Alexander Auto Groups we hit the hump day in the series tonight for night #3.

The action over the weekend produced 8 different winners in all 4 divisions with a possibility of 4 new winners as the driver talent is deep here at The Diamond in the Desert.

In IMCA Modified action Bakersfield California’s young gun Ethan Dotson and Omaha Nebraska hot shoe Justin Zeitner  have both been at the front of the pack  with some stellar runs. Zeitner led Saturdays main event until a red flag and winner Ricky Thornton Jr capitalized and sped off for the win as the Husker State driver fell back to 3rd where he finished in the previous nights A main, Dotson in contrast has methodically and smoothly made his way into top 5’s both nights.

In the Northern Sport Mods its been a west coast California affair as the golden state placed 5 drivers in the top 5 each night with Bakersfields Wayne Dotson who is driving the Levi Kiefer 3ac this weekend as Levi is a driving a Dream Chassis out of Sonny Wahl’s Las Vegas Wahl Traction shops  as Brentwood, California’s Fred Ryland topped the action on night #2 in his familiar #7j Larry Shaw Race Cars sport mod.

The weekends Stock Car main events have produced some great racing as Yuma’s own Joey Essary powered away with the Friday win but then headed over to Glendale Arizona for The Monster Energy Supercross for his other passion as well as his day job at Essary Power Sports. With the door wide open for a new winner for night #2 it was Bonduel,Wisconsin shoe Greg Wichman who sliced and diced all night in the main and came away with his 1st checkered flag at the Somerton Arizona speedplant.

Next were the IMCA Hobby Stocks and again a Yuma local Bob Horton overcame an earlt near spin to race to the Friday feature win but it was Red Deer Alberta Canada’s Scott Shaw who has been the most consistent with a 2nd place Friday and then put on a clinic on Saturday and raced off to the main event win.

Wednesday’s starts off with gates opening at 5:00 pm with racing starting at 7:00pm.Tickets can be picked up at Wild River Family Entertainment Center, online at or at the front gates.
