Chris Toth doubles up at The Deacon Dick Rautenberg Memorial
When all the dust settled after Saturday nights Racing action at Cocopah Speedway no one was happier than Holtville, California’s Chris Toth as he swept the weekend at the Somerton Arizona 3/8’s mile dirt oval and extended his point lead in the RV World IMCA Northen Sport Mod class.as Toth in his MRT Racecars sport mod swept both main events at the annual event honoring local racing legend.Toth was kept honest both nights by a hard charging Cody Daffern rounding out your top 5 were James Dupre in his new Dream Chassis, and Imperial Valley hard chargers Corey Clayton and Sean Callens.In other racing action IMCA Hobby Stock point leader Leonard Manos raced his way to victory #3 on the season in his quest for his 1st ever championship following Manos to the line were hard charger Jason Beshears and new 2nd place point earner and rounding out your top 5 last years champion Brent Wofford,then we have Jim Robinson and Harvey Quinn who both doudled up in their own way with 4th and 5th place finishes.Next up we have the Fisher Automotive IMCA Stock Cars track point leader turned around his weekend after a transmission failure on Friday night as he and former track champion Mike Harlan swapped out the bad with the new and Manny raced his way to win #5 on the season,coming around in 2nd was Friday night winner Tony Hill from Cortez Colorado,Thomas Daffern garnered dual 3rd place finishes on the weekend and finishing out the top 5 was Jimmy Davy and former Yuma resident now from Chandler Arizona David Jones in a house car for Jared Hall Racecars from right here in Yuma. Closing out the Deacon Dick Rautenberg Memorial was your IMCA modifieds and 2 time national IMCA point champion Zane DeVilbiss from Farmington New Mexico showed why he earned those championships and almost took this years title but came up short in 2nd place in the final tallies this was 1st main event win here at the diamond in the desert. Following Zane to the line were perennial front runners Tim Ward and 1st night main event winner Ricky Thornton Jr who continues to add to his already stellar 2015 season. Next we have Lance Mari in his MRT Racecars chassis which he builds and repairs cars outof his Imperial California shop and finishing out the top 5 is Brian Schultz whose weekend started off with a tore up car but he and his crew got her back in shape and running back up front. Well all in all it was a great weekend here at Cocopah Speedway and we look forward to our next race on October 31st as we invite all the kids for our Trunk or Treat night we will have the racers park on the front straight prior to racing action so the kids can go around and collect candy and other delights from their favorites also on tap will be a costume contest for the kids with giveaways and prizes so bring out the ghouls and goblins for trick or treat at the track then sit back and watch some edge of your seat racing.
