Brawley’s Teague wins Hobby Stock feature at Cocopah Speedway

Amy Teague does not like dust.

So, the logical thing to do Saturday night on a dry, dusty track at Cocopah Speedway was to get to the front first, stay out of everyone else’s dust and drive to the win.

And that is exactly what Teague did in her first trip to the Somerton track in 2014 as she got past the competition in quick fashion and drove untouched to the win in the IMCA Hobby Stock Division.

It was also Teague’s first trip to victory lane since 2010 when the track re-opened and she became the first woman driver ever to win a feature event at the track. That win came in what was formerly known as the Factory Stock Division. And that night the Factory Stocks were grouped with the Street Stocks, and the win came when she was the last Factory Stock on the track, and she crashed before the race was over.

Saturday night, however, there was no doubt who the fastest, strongest car was as Teague maneuvered first past Yuma’s Craig Ebers and then Yuma’s Jason Beshears to take the lead. After that Teague stretched the lead to almost a full straightaway at the finish.
