Local racers looking to make impression at ICMA Winter Nationals
It’s payback time.
The two-weekend format, which opens tonight and continues Saturday night with two more nights of racing Feb. 14 and 15, will feature another large contingency of drivers and cars from as far away as Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Colorado, along with teams from Nevada, California, New Mexico and Arizona.
Among those drivers headed to the Somerton oval are past national champions and a lot of other top tier talent in the IMCA Modified ranks.
As an example, a year ago Jesse Sobbing, from Glenwood, Iowa, spanked the field, winning all of the feature events on the way to winning a total of 32 feature events during the season and being named the IMCA Modified Rookie of the Year.
