On The Grow – Expanded Cocopah Speedway IMCA Winter Nationals set for mid-February
Somerton, Arizona (December 30, 2013) Continuing with the theme of building on already successfulevents, Cocopah Speedway has begun preparations for the 3rd annual IMCA Winter Nationals, coming to the Somerton, Arizona oval for two consecutive weekends in mid-February. The event annually features a big field of the best IMCA racers and cars from across the country.
The IMCA Winter Nationals at Cocopah Speedway grows to a total of four nights of racing in 2014, up from three nights the prior year. Race dates are Friday and Saturday, February 7th and 8th, and Friday and Saturday, February 14th and 15th. Also growing, the prize money to be paid out, along with the divisions represented as IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sport Modifieds will be joined this year by IMCA Hobby Stocks.
Cocopah Speedway Director of Operations Greg Burgess said, we want to build this event into one of the brightest stars in the IMCA racing world, and the enhancements this year are another step towards achieving that goal. The days in between the two race weekends are filled with other special events for racers and race fans alike, including a bowling tournament on Wednesday, February 12th, and a special Fanfest Race Car Show and Party on the Cocopah Speedway grounds Thursday, February 13th.
Pre-event registration and ticket sales are already open online at www.cocopahspeedway.com, and Burgess noted that entries are coming in at a good clip. The calls are steady and we can be assured of a stout field of the best modified racers in the country, according to Burgess, who added that we look forward to extending the hospitality for which Cocopah Speedway is becoming famous, to drivers and race fans alike.
Each night of racing in the IMCA Winter Nationals will be run as a stand-alone event, and each will also serve as a qualifier for the IMCA Fast Shafts All Star Invitational later in the year.
Prize money to be awarded in the 3rd Annual IMCA Winter Nationals at Cocopah Speedway has also been increased over last year:
February 7th, 8th, and 14th – $1000 to win and $100 to start
February 15th – $3000 to win and $300 to start
· SPORT MODIFIEDS:
February 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th – $400 to win and $50 to start
· IMCA HOBBY STOCKS:
February 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th – $350 to win and $40 to start
· Non-Qualifier Payout: $30.00

On top of the increased prized money to be awarded, Cocopah Speedway has also reduced the out of pocket expense for drivers entering:

· No Pill Draw Fee
· $30.00 Pit Pass Per Day.
Racing begins at 7:00pm for each night of the IMCA Winter Nationals at Cocopah Speedway, with a special event main gate opening time of 4:00pm. Season Pass Holders, Skybox Ticket & Suite Ticket holders will be admitted 30 minutes prior to General Admission. Pit Gates for all events open at 2:00pm.
General admission for each night of the Winter Nationals is $15.00 adults, $13.00 for seniors and military, $5.00 for juniors 6-12, and children under six are always free at Cocopah Speedway. Additionally, on Friday, February 14th, Cocopah Speedway will offer a Valentines special, with admission just $5.00 that night for all ladies.
