Racers at Cocopah Speedway back in action Saturday with rare back-to-back series program
Now is the time when local dirt track racers who aren’t in a physical fitness program are wishing they were working out.
In a rare occurrence on the 2013 Cocopah Speedway Racing Series schedule, drivers in the 16-race season will be back on the track Saturday night for Round 6, just a week after completing Round 5.
“There isn’t a lot of time to catch your breath, that’s for sure,” said Greg Burgess, Cocopah Speedway’s director of operations, on Wednesday.
“I know I can’t believe we’re already at midweek with another race about 72 hours away. And I know that if I’m aware of how fast things are moving between races, that our drivers and their crews are feeling the crunch, too.”
Saturday night’s show will feature all five divisions in the racing series: IMCA Modified, IMCA Sport Modified, Pro-Stock, Street Stock and Factory Stock.
The first green flag will fly at 7 p.m.
