Cocopah Speedway – Announces a New Voice!
Cocopah Speedway is pleased to welcome Mike Stanhope to the team as track public address and special events announcer. Greg Burgess, Cocopah Speedway Director of Operations, says Stanhope has already begun work in preparation for the 2013 season.
Stanhope’s voice is well known to longtime Yuma radio listeners. He brings more than 25 years of experience, having served in the same capacity during the 1990’s at what was then known as Yuma Speedway. He also spent many years as special events announcer for the demolition derby and fireworks at the Yuma County Fairgrounds.
Stanhope’s voice has also been heard during the 1995 Slick 50 Sprint Car World Series at Canyon Speedway in Phoenix, and he’s done traveling special event announcing with the Sprint Car Owners of Arizona and Arizona Sprint Car Association organizations.
Stanhope says, “I’m extremely excited to be a part of the racing community in Yuma again, and to be a part of the excellent team that Burgess has put together. I have one simple goal, and that’s to help make racing come alive for Yuma fans.”
Burgess adds, “This is an important step for Cocopah Speedway. I look forward to having Mike on our team and hearing him entertain and keep the fans informed for years to come.”
Cocopah Speedway kicks off its 2013 racing season with a special two-night Grand Re-opening Friday and Saturday, January 18th and 19th. This weekend also marks the debut of Cocopah Speedway’s new concrete bleacher seating, the latest and largest example of Cocopah Speedway’s continuing fan experience improvement.
