New Turkey Classic Race format announced!

This years Pro Stock big event the Turkey Classic will adopt an exciting new format sure to challenge racers and delight race fans.  Details are here for the two day event which kicks off Friday night November 23rd!

 

2012 Cocopah Speedway Turkey Classic Pro Stock Format

Friday:  (25 Lap Main Event)

Pill draw for qualifying order.

2 laps single car qualifying – Points will be assigned for qualifying. 100 for fast time with a 2 point drop per position.

Two sets of heat races.  First session loaded strait up on time with fast time on pole of heat 1, 2nd fast on pole of heat 2, etc.  Second session will be the invert of the first heats; pole of heat 1 will start at the back of heat 1, etc.  Heat races will be 8 laps each.

Heat Race points will be assigned as follows:

1st = 100

2nd = 92

3rd = 86

4th = 80

5th = 75

6th = 70

7th = 65

8th = 60

The points sum from those 3 events (Qualifying, Heat 1, Heat 2), will be used for main event lineups.  A tie in points will be decided by the quicker qualifying time.

The top six in points will draw for starting position in the dash. Finish of dash will determine starting position for the first 3 rows of the main event. Positions   7 – 24 will be lined up by points.

4 cars transfer from C Main to back of B Main.

6 cars transfer from B Main to back of A Main.

A Main Lineup (start 24 cars). Positions:

1-6: Finish of dash.

7-16: Qualifying & heat race points.

17-24: B Main transfer cars.

Top two main event finishers will lock in for Saturday night’s dash draw.

Saturday: (35 Lap Main Event)

Pill draw for qualifying order.

4 cars transfer from C Main to back of B Main.

6 cars transfer from B Main to back of A Main.

A Main Lineup (start 24 cars). Positions:

1-8: Finish of dash.

9-16: Saturday’s points.

17-24: B Main transfer cars.
